Targeting fraud

It’s important the Trustees protect the money in the Scheme so they can continue to pay your benefits. In fact, they have a duty to do so.

This means that, to prevent and detect fraud, they sometimes need to share information the Scheme holds with other bodies.

On behalf of the Trustees, UK Pensions Operations has appointed Target Professional Services (Target) to provide screening and tracing services.

 Target will:
Trace members (including EPB-only members) if we don’t have any contact details on record
Identify deceased members where we haven’t been made aware of a death
Help us arrange prompt settlement of death benefits
Reduce the number of cases of overpaid pensions (where a member has died and the Scheme hasn’t been notified)
Prevent identity fraud in some cases.

Pensioners aged over 100 or living overseas

To help us make sure the information in our records is correct, Target sends you a letter in the post each year.

When you receive this, please check your details are correct and let us know if they’re not. If you don’t receive this in a 12-month period, it’s likely you will need to update your address.
